My blog post about a nursing position on a Disney Cruise Line  has been one of my most-read articles to date, and I completely understand why. The idea of combining healthcare work with the magic of Disney is something that captures people’s imaginations.

And I KNOW it’s not just nurses who dream of working behind the scenes at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Fortunately, Disney hires healthcare professionals across a wide range of roles, both clinical and non-clinical.

So, I’ve decided to start featuring more Disney healthcare job spotlights. They will be for different healthcare specialties, and can be anywhere in the world, depending on where Disney is hiring. Don’t worry though, this is not going to turn into a Disney blog- I will still feature other jobs and companies as well.

First up: a role that might be perfect for anyone with a medical technician background and a love for all things Disney: Medical Assistant / Basic X-Ray Machine Operator at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Job Spotlight: Medical Assistant / Basic X-Ray Machine Operator – Disney

Location: Lake Buena Vista, Florida
Employer: Walt Disney World Resort
Position: Medical Assistant / Basic X-Ray Machine Operator

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll support the on-site Occupational Health Services team that provides care to Disney cast members. Responsibilities include:

  • Taking patient histories and vitals

  • Performing basic x-rays

  • Assisting with physical exams and minor procedures

  • Administering medications and immunizations under supervision

  • Supporting administrative and clinical workflows in the clinic

This isn’t a guest-facing role—your focus is on keeping Disney’s cast members healthy and work-ready, helping the magic continue behind the scenes.

Requirements

Disney is looking for candidates who have:

  • Active Florida certification as a Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BXMO)

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

  • Experience in a fast-paced clinical setting, with a strong preference for occupational health, urgent care, or employee health backgrounds

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Side note here- while the job description does not specify a medical assistant, nursing assistant, patient care technician, or similar certification, that certainly does seem to be the expectation. I can only imagine that such a certification could make you a stronger candidate.

Pay & Perks (Not Listed, But Here’s What We Know)

The exact salary isn’t posted, but jobs like this in Florida typically range from $18–$24/hour depending on experience and credentials. And working for Disney means access to some seriously magical benefits, including:

  • Theme park admission for you and your family

  • Cast member discounts

  • Health insurance and wellness programs

  • Potential for career advancement within the Disney organization

Summary

This isn’t your average clinic job- you’re working on-site at Walt Disney World, caring for the people who make the magic happen every day. If you’re looking for a healthcare role with a bit more sparkle, this one might be worth applying to. And if this isn’t quite the right fit, give me a follow- I will be spotlighting more magical healthcare jobs like this soon!
