When we think about healthcare roles, most of us picture doctors, nurses, and perhaps a few specialists. But healthcare medical device industries utilize specialist technicians just as much, however they are sometime a little sneakier to find in job postings because of the language that is used. This week’s job spotlight features the Clinical Applications Specialist positions available at Hamilton Medical across Northern California, Northern Nevada, and the Carolinas.

So, What Exactly is a Clinical Applications Specialist?

In a nutshell, Clinical Applications Specialists bridge the gap between high-tech medical devices and the healthcare providers who rely on them. They’re the experts who not only know the ins and outs of specialized medical equipment but also understand how to effectively train and support the clinicians using it. They are very frequently recruited and hired because of their clinical background and certifications. In the case of Hamilton Medical, CASs focus on ventilation, including ventilators, nebulizers, humidifiers and all of the accessories. They are actively recruiting people who are Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) certified, with at least 3 years of experience.

The role involves a mix of education, hands-on support, and technical expertise. A CAS at Hamilton Medical will travel to hospitals and clinics, ensuring staff are confident and proficient in using these ventilators, troubleshooting issues, and even helping tailor the equipment’s use to fit specific patient needs. They’re educators, problem-solvers, and product champions rolled into one.

About Hamilton Medical

Founded with a mission to create intelligent ventilation solutions, Hamilton Medical is a leader in critical care technology. They’re at the forefront of designing ventilators that not only save lives but also ease the workload of healthcare providers. Whether it’s supporting newborns in neonatal care or helping critically ill adults, Hamilton Medical’s products touch lives across a wide range of healthcare environments.

What’s the Job Like?

As a Clinical Applications Specialist, your days won’t be spent behind a desk. Instead, you’ll be out in the field working directly with healthcare providers. Your role will involve training staff, troubleshooting any issues, and ensuring the products are used to their full potential. You’ll also collaborate with sales teams, attend industry events, and contribute valuable feedback to Hamilton Medical’s product development and marketing strategies.

This position is perfect for someone with a strong clinical background in respiratory care, who’s also a natural teacher with a knack for technical details. Plus, if you’re someone who thrives in a role that’s both autonomous and team-oriented, this might be right up your alley.

Why Hamilton Medical?

Aside from the opportunity to work with innovative technology and make a tangible impact on patient care, Hamilton Medical offers a supportive work environment with room for growth. Their benefits package is comprehensive, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with perks like paid time off, 401k, and even tuition reimbursement.

This role offers the chance to make a difference in how healthcare providers deliver critical care. You’ll be the go-to expert in your region, helping to shape better outcomes for patients by ensuring caregivers have the training and tools they need.

Applying for this position?

Here are some things I would consider adding to my resume if I was going to apply for this job:

  1. Clinical Experience and Certifications- Include every relevant certification you have.  Be clear how long you have been working as a respiratory therapist and in what settings, especially if you have worked in more niche areas like NICU.
  2. Technical Expertise- Detail your experience with specific brands and equipment. If you have experience using Hamilton Medical equipment, make sure that is highlighted. Are you the go-to person when equipment is acting up? Tell them about it in you resume.
  3. Education and Training Experience- they are looking for individuals with comfortable teaching and communicating with their clients. If you’ve given in-services, done any classroom training, or oriented someone staff, add these as bullet points to showcase your experience.

Wrapping Up

Clinical Applications Specialists may not be a role that gets a lot of public recognition, but they’re absolutely essential in the medical device field. At Hamilton Medical, you won’t just be selling or installing equipment—you’ll be empowering healthcare providers to do their jobs better, and that’s a contribution that truly matters.

I am going to include a link to their Glassdoor and Indeed review pages for you. You could also try to connect with some of their employees on LinkedIn. I have found that most people will reply to you if you reach out to ask them about their experience in a job or company.

Currently, they have 2 positions open, one in the Carolinas and one in Northern California/Nevada. If these aren’t convenient, follow them on LinkedIn. I was unable to find a link to sign up for job notifications, so LinkedIn is probably going to be the easiest way to stay updated with the company.

Good luck on your job search!
